Boone Journal Passport Wallet
Named for the explorer and frontiersman, Daniel Boone … we think Daniel would have certainly had one of the Steurer & Co. Journal Passport Wallets if they had been around in the late 1700’s.
Daniel Boone is one of the most widely known American frontiersmen. Boone’s fame stems from his exploits during the exploration and settlement of Kentucky. He first arrived in the future state in 1767 and spent the better part of the next 30 years exploring and settling the lands of Kentucky, including carving out the Wilderness Road and building the settlement station of Boonesboro.
Daniel Boone died in Missouri on September 26, 1820. His remains along with those of his wife Rebecca were disinterred in 1845 and brought back to Kentucky for burial in Frankfort. Missourians believe the wrong graves were excavated and that Daniel and Rebecca still rest in Missouri. Both the Frankfort Cemetery in Kentucky and the Old Bryan Farm graveyard in Missouri claim to have Boone's remains.
Boone remains an iconic figure in American history. After his death, he was frequently the subject of heroic tall tales and works of fiction. His adventures—real and legendary—were influential in creating the “Western hero” of American folklore.
